Announcing: Scholarships for MaxFunCon East

Hello friends, Erik here with some exciting news for all you potential MaxFunCon East attendees: This year we are able to offer two different scholarships for the event!

Scholarships will be awarded to two individuals who have a strong desire to attend but are financially unable to do so.

The first scholarship is what we're calling "The Full Ride." This will cover the full cost of attendance including round trip (coach) airfare, as well as event accommodations, food, drink, and all MaxFunCon activities at the Inn at Pocono Manor.

The second, we're calling "The Free Ticket." It does not cover airfare, but still covers the cost of your MaxFunCon ticket, accommodations, food, drink and activities.

In order to apply for these scholarships, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • You have significant financial need. Specifically, it would be difficult or impossible for you to attend MaxFunCon East if you did not receive a scholarship.
  • You will be able to participate in the entire weekend-long conference. MaxFunCon begins at 4 PM on Friday, September 2nd and ends at 1 PM on Sunday, September 4th.
  • In the case of "The Free Ticket" scholarship, you are able to arrange your own transportation to and from Pocono Manor to attend MaxFunCon East.

If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, send a short essay telling us a bit about yourself.  Explain why you want to go to MaxFunCon.  In particular, please describe your creative aspirations and how attending MaxFunCon East might help you with your future projects. Essay instructions are as follows:

  • Email your essay to erik@maximumfun.org
  • In the subject line of your email, please write "MaxFunCon East Scholarship"
  • The essay should be included both as an attachment to your email in Microsoft Word format (or link to a Google Doc) and in the body of the email.
  • The essay must be no longer than 300 words. Essays longer than 300 words will not be read or considered. 
  • Please include your phone number in the body of the email so that we can call you if needed.

Creativity is always appreciated, but please make sure your essay conforms to all the requirements outlined above in order to be considered.

  • The deadline for scholarship applications is THURSDAY, JULY 21.
  • We hope to select and notify the two recipients no later than THURSDAY, JULY 28.

As of this very moment, tickets are on sale for the return of MaxFunCon East. You can head directly to the ticketing page if you are ready to roll.

If you need a refresher on what's going on... We're headed back to the maybe-but-maybe-not-haunted Inn at Pocono Manor over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2-4, 2016.

Tickets will be $840 per person (double-occupancy). This includes all your food, drink, lodging, and entertainment. Go ahead and pick one (or two) up today!

When we say tickets are based on double occupancy, we mean you'll have a roommate. If you are attending as a couple, just purchase two and we'll assume that's your roommate preference. Otherwise, let us know who you want your roommate to be. Don't have a roommate in mind? We'll assign you one. If you are buying a single ticket and would prefer to have a room to yourself for the weekend, there is a single occupancy charge of $100 which you can add-on at the bottom of the registration form.

As with past MaxFunCons, we will offer an installment plan for a limited time - the ticket cost is spread over four easy monthly payments. If you'd like to do this, contact erik@maximumfun.org and let him know. He'll hook you up.

MaxFunCon East is a GO!

The rumors are true! MaxFunCon East will return for 2016. We're headed back to the maybe-but-maybe-not-haunted Inn at Pocono Manor over Labor Day weekend, September 2-4, 2016.

General ticket sales will open up in April, but we're taking deposits for the event now. A $100 deposit guarantees your slot! Tickets will be $840 (double-occupancy), and your deposit will apply toward that price. This includes food, drink, lodging, and entertainment.

Put down your MaxFunCon East deposit now.

Don't have a roommate in mind? We'll assign you one. Don't want a roommate? Single rooms are available for an additional one hundred dollar charge. You'll have one month after tickets go on sale to pay your balance; deposits are non-refundable.

For couples sharing a bed, there's a nice discount and it's only $1489 per couple. For a limited time, you can also pay via an installment plan - four easy monthly payments. Tickets for MaxFunCon 2016 go on sale next week!

That's right, MaxFunCon will return to Lake Arrowhead, CA on June 10-12, 2016 and tickets will go on sale one week from today.

That's Black Friday, November 27th, at 10am pacific. Don't go outside to brave the shopping lines, stay home and buy your MaxFunCon tickets instead. We will send out the ticket link that morning, as well as post the info to the MaxFun Facebook group and via the MaxFunHQ Twitter account.

Registration is $799 and includes everything you'll need for the weekend - lodging, food, drink, classes and shows. For couples sharing a bed, there's a nice discount and it's only $1489 per couple. 

We've changed the registration system this year, and things should be smoother and easier for everyone.
