Education: Julia Crookston
Julia Crookston will be returning for her fourth year to teach the ‘Art of Rueben’, where you’ll assemble and grill Rueben sandwiches.
Julia Crookston has had her hand in making food since before most of you were born. She has always been connected to food production – an egg rancher in Los Angeles, an Executive Chef at CalArts and Dreamworks, pizza cook at Chez Panisse, preserves and pickle maker for her company Bona Dea, a private chef for the rich and awesome but most rewarding of all, the baker of Jesse Thorn’s birthday cakes when he was really little. A wonderful and engaging teacher, Julia is a fountain of culinary information. She owns the Goodland Kitchen in Goleta California where she feeds the urban masses and makes superb jams and other goodies for fancy schmancy shops across the country.
